Add Yourself to the Members GoogleMap - 09-27-2006

Well everyone liked our members map so I decided to take this to the next level. I have installed a software plugin that will allow all of our members to add themselves to the Members GoogleMap.

It is pretty easy to add yourself so lets get it started.

Step 1. Click on the link called Members GoogleMap.

Step 2: Next Click the Your Entry Button.

Step 3: You will then navigate to your country and start to find you location by clicking on the screen. Once you have clicked on the screen you will see a marker pop up. You can then click on the map and try to get your marker closer to your location. Once you have found your general location you will switch to satellite mode to find your building/home. Your Latitude and Longitude will automatically be filled in.

Step 4: Fill out the Marker text box with what ever you wish.

Step 5: Add an image by right clicking on your Avatar and entering the path that comes up under Properties. You can also just link to any other image that is hosted on a server somewhere. This is called Hotlinking.

Step 6: Do not forget to click the Update Information button at the bottom to save the changes. You may need to do this one step a time so it is easier.

I can click next to your name where it says "My Location" and that shows me that on the Google Map. Mine and other do not have that next to our name and I cannot find where to activate that setting. It that something you need to activate on each account?

That will automatically show up only once you have put yourself on the map. Go to the Members Googlemap link and find yourself on the map. Enter your info and then your name will have your location under it.

You find the link to Members GoogleMap at the top of this page (just below the PDMSWORLD logo).
